SSIEM SYMPOSIUM ABSTRACT
Before proceeding you must have already submitted an abstract for this years SSIEM Symposium, and you MUST BE the designated abstract PRESENTER and also the FIRST AUTHOR.
You will need the reference number of the abstract.
The abstract, either in whole or in part, MUST NOT have been published elsewhere.
You can only submit ONE TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION and only ONE ABSTRACT per application.
ABOUT SSIEM ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP
The Society invites applications for Travel Scholarships of up to approximately €1200 (One thousand two hundred Euro) for European candidates, and up to approximately €2000 (Two thousand Euro) for candidates outside Europe, to enable SSIEM members and non-members to attend the SSIEM Annual Symposium. Applicants MUST be under 40 years of age on the day of submission. Part of the Travel Scholarships will be awarded to those in financial need in combination with the acceptable scientific content and the remaining primarily on the basis of the scientific content of the abstract. Submissions will be ranked by three independent senior SSIEM members. In the event of a tie the award will be given to the applicant with higher financial needs and, if these are equal to the SSIEM member.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
All applications must be submitted via the Travel Scholarship application section of the SSIEM website and must include:
- the abstract submitted to this year SSIEM Annual Symposium
- a brief summary of the applicant's career and interest in clinical and/or scientific aspects of inborn errors of metabolism
- a detailed estimate of costs covering travel (for flights, only economy class), conference registration and accommodation
- a letter detailing the need for financial support from the Head of Department
- a statement that the applicant did NOT receive a travel scholarship in the previous SSIEM symposium
Failure of a successful applicant, in receipt of the Scholarship, to subsequently attend the Symposium will preclude other applicants from the same institution from applying the following year. A successful travel scholarship in previous years, with the exception of an award for the last SSIEM symposium, will not preclude the award of a Travel Scholarship.
DEADLINE
Applications must be received by 30-Mar-2019 (Midnight GMT). A decision will be made within approximately 3 weeks before the deadline of the early bird registration. Applications will not be considered if the correct procedure is not adhered to.
